Whats New in Finderlock
Stay up to date with the latest features, improvements, and bug fixes. We're constantly working to make Finderlock better and more secure for our users.
Fixes file permission issues for SSH keys, improves auto-lock reliability, and adds in-app self-update plus visual lock status in the menu bar.
What's Changed:
- File permissions are now preserved after unlock — SSH keys (600), credentials, and other permission-sensitive files retain their original POSIX permissions
- Main window is now accessible after closing with the red X — About, Settings, and menu bar actions reliably reopen it
- Menu bar popover now correctly dismisses when clicking outside (matching Skitch/Rectangle behavior)
- Auto-lock timer fires reliably at the configured interval — system wake, settings changes, and license updates no longer silently extend the countdown
- New 'Check for Updates' menu item in the Finderlock app menu (IntelliJ-style placement after About)
- Menu bar icon now changes to an open lock when any file is unlocked, giving at-a-glance status without opening the app
- In-app self-update: downloads the DMG in the background, mounts and opens in Finder, then prompts to quit — no browser needed
- All unlocked files are automatically locked before quitting during an update for safety
